Skipping Breakfast & Obesity

Most people think skipping breakfast is not likely to be related to obesity, but researchers have found that waking up and leaving the house without food in the stomach is one cause of obesity because this habit results in accumulated fat in the abdominal area and puts you at risk for heart disease due to higher cholesterol levels. And if that’s not bad enough, insulin levels also increase, which is a cause for diabetes.

People in this risk group tend to be adults of working age who are usually in a rush in the mornings or who don’t feel like eating anything early in the day. So, what is good about breakfast…?

Eating breakfast will have positive effects on your brain and heart. According to research published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, it has been revealed that people nearing the thirties who tend to skip breakfast are at risk for predisposition to heart disease because this group of people tend to favor foods high in sugar content and don’t like to exercise in addition to not eating breakfast.

In addition, researchers from the University of Tasmania in Australia have conducted experiments with 2,000 volunteer subjects aged in their twenties, finding that skipping breakfast can change the characteristics of the cholesterol accumulated in our bodies thus resulting in greater predispositions for obesity, senility and heart disease than in people who regularly eat breakfast.
